Field Notes.

One number, one market, one read. Field Notes is the file that sits between the Tuesday Ledger and the Saturday Escape: the single figure worth acting on, and the honest version of what it does and does not prove. Every number here is traced to a primary source or labeled as somebody's opinion, including ours. Where the public data does not exist, we say that instead of estimating.

The file opened on July 26, 2026 with the fifteen notes below, each one re-sourced from scratch before it published. Several of them exist to correct a figure we had wrong first. New notes land Wednesdays and Fridays from here.
