The 143rd National Horse Show opens its Tryon run with adult and junior equitation, championship classes and the Adult Amateur Hunter Classic through Sunday, October 25. Week two follows October 27 through November 1. Bring a layer, because the arena gets cold after dark.
Saturday Night Lights runs 4:00 to 9:00 PM with a costume contest, trick-or-treating, family activities, live entertainment and dining, then grand prix jumping under the lights. The organizers call the last Saturday in October the race's date going forward, which is how a race becomes a tradition.
Four days of driving tours and car showcases lead to the Concours itself on Sunday, November 1, with nearly 200 vehicles and 75 judges on the 1st and 18th fairways of Port Royal Golf Club's Planter's Row course. Tickets for the Concours are sold through the festival.

Presented by Lexus, the Lowcountry's fall race day runs Sunday at Stono Ferry Racetrack in Hollywood, about half an hour from downtown Charleston. Gates open at 8 AM and the first race goes at 1 PM, with more than thirty local merchants, tailgates, and the Corgi Cup for Best Dressed Corgi.
The third annual market opens with a ticketed Night Market on Thursday, November 19, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, then runs Friday and Saturday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday noon to 4:00 PM. Six categories (food, drink, style, home, crafts and outdoors) plus maker workshops through the weekend. Holiday shopping, handled, ideally with a cocktail in hand on Thursday.
